Our Story

The Boston west coast swing community is lucky to have a wealth of social dance and dance education opportunities in the area. While we obviously live in the greatest city on Earth, the public transportation system is… not as good as it could be. This can make it challenging for folks to access all of the places to dance in Greater Boston. It can be especially tough for the college students in our community, who are even less likely to have a car. Dirty Water WCS works to bring in both local and international professionals for an educational and social experience that’s close to home and to the T. While Dirty Water WCS itself is new to the scene, the people behind it are long-standing community members with a deep passion for growing west coast swing in the Greater Boston area.

Our Team

  • Joe has been hanging around bars line dancing and country two-stepping since his teens. Over the years, Joe has become an integral part of the west coast swing community as a dancer, DJ, and organizer. Joe credits his father for instilling a love of both sports and dance into him, and now he is passionate about sharing that love with the next generation of dancers. When he’s not dancing or cheering on the Red Sox, Joe travels the globe for his salt company.

  • Alli is one of many who found their love for west coast swing in Neal Klein’s class at Lesley University. For nearly a decade, Alli has been serving the community as a teacher, DJ, and back-end magic-maker. She is passionate about increasing the accessibility of west coast swing for dancers of all backgrounds. Alli is a mental health clinician by day, dancer and colorguard director by night, and a 24/7 dark chocolate consumer.

  • Max is a native of Washington state but has called Boston his home since 2019. A band teacher by trade, he brings a nuanced perspective to how the dance is taught and the music that is played. Max is a devoted social dancer and is excited to cultivate a high-quality social dancing experience for the community. In his spare time, Max is an avid home construction DIY-er and chef.

  • Alex found his love for dance right after college and fell head over heels for west coast swing. He enjoys the versatility and free-form expression of the dance in addition to his passion for drilling technique and quality of movement. Even though the job requires him to wake up very early, Alex is excited to bring his unique perspective as a personal trainer to the community. He values any opportunity for dancers to learn how to move easily for many years to come!
